À propos de l'événement

The Frameworks, Values & Rights series offers an opportunity for experts to delve into the core frameworks and values of the Women-Centred HIV Care Hub including their application to women's health and the realms of research, academia, medicine, and community spaces.

On June 14th, colleagues from the Women HIV and Health Research Program (WHRP) in Toronto will present on a key framework that drives their work: intersectional feminism.

Dr. Mona Loutfy, infectious diseases specialist and founder of WHRP, co-led the Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort Study (CHIWOS), the development of the WCHC model from CHIWOS findings, and now the WCHC Hub. She is an internationally-recognized leader in carrying out community-based research with and for people living with HIV.

Mary Ndung’u, MSW, provides psycho-social support to marginalized individuals, particularly those with complex health challenges. Engaged in various community-based research studies and advocacy roles, Mary prioritizes equity-focused access to treatment and care services for Black communities.

Logan Kennedy, RN and PhD Candidate at the University of Western Ontario, serves as the Research Lead at WHRP where she has worked alongside Dr. Loutfy since 2011. With a commitment to sexual and reproductive health equity, Logan's approach integrates intersectional feminism and her clinical nursing experience.

Angela Underhill, WHRP Research Manager, works on the Trans Women HIV Research Initiative (TWIRI), the Trans Women and Gender Diverse People sub-hub of the WCHC hub, and qualitative studies at WHRP. As a Ph.D. student at the University of Guelph, she focuses on feminist research to promote social inclusion and equitable health care.
