À propos de l'événement

The Frameworks, Values & Rights series offers an opportunity for experts to delve into the core frameworks and values of the Women-Centred HIV Care Hub including their application to women's health and the realms of research, academia, medicine, and community spaces.

On May 17th, join us in welcoming Mina Kazemi and Laura Mata Lopez, colleagues from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, as they delve into their community-based research approaches and lessons learned.

Mina Kazemi, a dedicated advocate for health equity, holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her foundational knowledge of community-based research is owed to her time as the Ontario Provincial Coordinator of CHIWOS (Canadian HIV Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Cohort Study). Currently, as Senior Research Program Coordinator and Community Partnership Specialist at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Mina carries out strengths-based research with Indigenous communities on youth suicide prevention, for which she received the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Research Staff Award in Community-Based Research.

Laura Mata Lopez, a first-generation immigrant from Costa Rica, grounds her body of scholarship in her lived, clinical, research and advocacy experiences. With over eight years of nursing experience, Laura specializes in providing integrated mental health services in underserved US communities. Currently pursuing her PhD, her research focuses on understanding and addressing the unique challenges surrounding suicide among migrant Latina women in Baltimore. Her aim is to amplify the voices of these women, challenge gendered narratives, and

tackle suicide-related disparities to promote health equity.
